Maria Libertad Barrientos, “Libe,” 71, of Brownsville, TX, devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
sister and friend, entered into eternal rest on January 13, 2026 at Valley Baptist Medical Center
surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ebano, San Luis Potosi, Mexico on September
16, 1954.
She is preceded in death by her parents Maria Elva Lozano and Juan Zamora, her brothers Juan
Gilberto Zamora Lozano and Javier Zamora Lozano.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Juan Jose Barrientos; her daughters, Brendy
Muñoz, Cynthia (Victor) Espinoza, Joucy (Omar) Flores; her grandchildren Guillermo, Javier,
Nayeli, Jorge, Jeremy, Leslie, Justin, Esmeralda, Emily, Omar, Jackelyn; her brothers, Jose
Octavio Zamora Lozano, Marco Antonio Zamora Lozano her cousin Adalilia Zamora and
numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Libe’s unconditional love was a radiant light in the lives of her husband, daughters,
grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to share even a “cafecito” together. With a
heart full of compassion and a deep commitment to understanding others, Libe offered gentle
guidance and wise counsel to everyone around them. Her generosity knew no bounds; always
ready to lend a helping hand, Libe showed us that with faith and the love of Jesus, anything is
possible.
Libe taught us the importance of respect for the rights of others, gratitude and empathy,
reminding us to bless others even in the most challenging times. Her legacy lives on in the
kindness she shared, the wisdom she passed on, and the love that continues to inspire us all.
Libe, rest in peace. We’ll see you later. We love you!
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunset
Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Services
conclude at the end of the visitation.
