September 23, 1944 – January 30, 2026
With profound love and respect, we celebrate the life of Miguel Casas Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and retired firefighter whose life was defined by service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to others.
Miguel Casas Jr. was born on September 23, 1944, in Brownsville, Texas, to the late Miguel Casas and Dolores G. Casas. Raised with strong values of faith, family, and hard work, Miguel carried these principles throughout his life and into a remarkable career in public service.
Miguel proudly served his community as a firefighter for 29 years, a career marked by courage, compassion, and quiet strength. Even in retirement, he remained a firefighter at heart, embodying honor, resilience, and selflessness.
Above all, Miguel was a devoted family man. He shared a loving marriage with his beloved spouse, Alma Rosa Casas, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He was a proud and caring father to Mirelda Reps (Matthew), Roberto Arteaga (Josie), Mitchelle Casas, Nelly Silva (Juan), Nancy Silva (Armando), and Jesus Silva Jr. (Claudia), serving as a protector, teacher, and constant source of strength and guidance.
Miguel’s heart overflowed with love for his grandchildren: Milo Reps, Munro Reps, Steven Arteaga, Andrea Arteaga, Mia Quintanilla, Abel Hinojosa, Andrew De Alba, Axel De Alba, Aaron De Alba, Valeria Silva, Alejandro Silva, Camille Silva, and Allen Silva. He took great pride in each of them and treasured every moment spent watching them grow.
He is also survived by his brothers Felipe E. Casas (Christina) and Manuel Casas (Sylvia). He was preceded in death by his brother Reynaldo Casas (Olga) and his sister Dolores Casas. Family remained central to Miguel’s life, and the bonds he shared with his siblings were deeply cherished.
Miguel will be remembered for his calm presence, kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched—both in uniform and at home. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I have some profound memories early in my career and service to the Brownsville Firefighters Association L970 with Miguel Casas.
We experienced some amazing trials and tribulations and I learned from Brother Casas to always remain calm, cool, and collected.
He was dedicated to his fellow Firefighters as good as anyone I have seen.
Brother Miguel Casas you will be truly missed 🙏
