It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Alberto “Beto” Montoya. He passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2026, at 74 years old in Hidalgo County.
Born on March 9, 1951, in Gomez Farias Tampulipas, MX to the late Margarito Montoya and Gloria J Montoya.
Alberto (Beto) was a dedicated and proud truck driver for over 28 years. He spent countless hours on the open road, a lifestyle he embraced with passion and an independent spirit. He was a true trucker through and through hauling a wide range of cargo throughout his career. He loved sharing stories from the road and the many characters he met along the way. His infectious laugh and generous spirit reflected a heart that was always open to a friend in need.
When he was not behind the wheel, he cherished time with his wife and family. He was a pilar of strength for his family, always ready to offer a helping hand.
He is survived by his loving wife Alicia Montoya of 27 years, his daughter Ericka Montoya(Priciliano), his granddaughter Alondra Hinojosa, his siblings Alfredo Montoya(wife Syliva), Irma Guerra(husband Elias), Margarito Montoya Jr(wife Amelia), Guadalupe(husband Jaime), Eduardo Gomez(wife Lupita), Norma Santana(husband Rieko), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services conclude at the end of the evening.
