December 23, 1958  – January 6, 2026

Antonio (Tony) Garcia, 67, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 23, 1958, in Brownsville TX, Tony was a loving and devoted husband to his first and only love, his wife of more than 40 years, Janet Alvarez Garcia.

Tony has been welcomed into his Heavenly Fathers’ Glory,  joining loved ones who have gone before him. His Parents, Antonio G Garcia and Micaela T Garcia. His brothers Ruben Huitron (Berta) of Houston, Raul Garcia (Janie) and Pete Garcia, both from Brownsville.

Left to treasure his memory, Tony is survived by his beloved wife Janet Alvarez Garcia, his brothers Ray Torres Garcia (Mona), Diego Garcia (Gretchen), Joe Frank Garcia (Letty), his sister Janie Leal (Ruben), brother-in-law Frank Alvarez and his family, and his cherished and dearly loved fur baby, Miss Daisy Mae. Tony also leaves an extended family of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends, all whom he loved and deeply cherished.

Tony was born and raised in Brownsville TX. In the mid 80s, and very early in their life together he and Janet decided to make North Texas their home. They lived in the Dallas Metro area for almost
40 years, having only recently returned to the Rio Grande Valley to be closer to family.

A man with an outstanding musical ear, Tony dedicated much of his time managing and operating Technical SoundBoarding for numerous Tejano/Mexican bands both in the RGV and in the Dallas area. Soon after arriving, in North TX he also became an essential part of making Tejano music available on-air in the Denton Tx area and smaller surrounding communities north of Dallas when he began Co-Hosting and DJ-ing a weekly spanish radio station program (FM88.1-KNTU). Together with his team they built a large following that he was so proud to be a part of. Tony also loved football and baseball. A loyal Dallas Cowboys and NY Yankees fan, you always knew where he’d be when a game was on. Always a hardworking man, he knew that to enjoy life he had to live it, and so he did.

Tony valued family and friends most of all. He treasured both and held them close to his heart always. He will be greatly missed but his memory will be cherished and will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

At the family’s request no formal service are being held.
