Isidra Rafaela Salinas
May 15, 1941 – January 3, 2026
Isidra Rafaela Salinas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted woman of faith, was born on May 15, 1941, in Mexico and was raised in Brownsville, Texas.
She was a proud alumna of Villa Maria Catholic High School and a lifelong, devout Catholic who faithfully served her community as a lector, Eucharistic minister, catechism teacher, and through outreach ministry, including service to incarcerated women.
A woman of resilience and determination, Isidra returned to college more than 25 years after graduating high school and earned an Associate Degree in Child Care Development from Texas Southmost College. She was employed by the Brownsville Independent School District until her retirement.
She had a deep passion for learning, painting, creativity, and the arts.
She is survived by her five children: Rosalva Fuentes, Noe Fuentes, Baldemar Fuentes, Blanca Perez, and Angela Perez. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Isidra will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, and creative spirit. She will be deeply missed, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in heaven, reunited with her loved ones.
Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9th, 2026, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel will open at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, with a chapel service at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The interment will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park.
