Larry Stephen Vano

Larry Stephen Vano, 80, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, entered into eternal rest on October 25, 2025, at Houston Methodist West, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry played baseball from Little League through Brownsville’s American Legion Baseball team, making lifelong friends in a sport he loved. His lifelong passion for sports, NASCAR racing, and fishing became part of his family’s story. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his children and grandchildren compete — in any sport, at any level. He was always their biggest fan, cheering them on with pride.

Larry graduated from Brownsville High School and Texas A&I University. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, where he met his wife, Susie, he returned to Brownsville, where he worked in the commercial construction industry across the Rio Grande Valley for 45 years.

I Meet Larry back in the 50’splaying Little League Baseball, He was a year or two ahead of me at BHS but we were still friends. Later in our business careers we did a lot of business together, he was one of the friendliest guys I every dealt with. Our wives worked together at St. Mary’s School and my wife always spoke very highly of Susie. Glad I knew them both. R I P old friend. Heaven is a better place today. ,
