Maria Angelica Perez, of Brownsville, joined our Lord on November 24, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gonzalo Perez; her parents, Clemente and Consuelo Garcia; her siblings, Maria Diana Garcia, Maria Esperanza Torres, and Maria Martha Mueck; her son-in-law, Ivan Guzman; her niece, Amanda Chavez; and her nephew, David Torres.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Luis G. (Aracely) Perez, Maria Diana (Lee I.) Rodriguez, Angelita Marie Guzman, and Gonzalo (Marisol) Perez, Jr.; her grandsons, Sergio Sebastian Perez, Luis G. Perez, Jr., Noah A. Guzman, Andrew N. Guzman, Brandon L. Rodriguez, Liam I. Rodriguez, and Elijah M. Rodriguez; her brothers, Clemente (Ana) Garcia and George Garcia, Sr.; and her sisters, Hermelinda Garcia and Maria Consuelo (Raul) Mata, and brother-in-law Victor L. Mueck, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and cherished friends.
Angelica, “Jila,” was full of love—love for God, love for her husband, Gonzalo, love for her children, love for her grandchildren, and love for her family and friends. She was a devout Catholic and could be found in her same pew every week at Christ the King Catholic Church. There, she had a perfect view of her favorite people—her children and later grandchildren, who were altar servers for many years.
Jila always made everyone feel special. She had a loving twinkle in her eye when she spoke of her husband. She radiated pride and love when she shared stories about her children and grandchildren. She was always ready to spend time with her loved ones. You could find her at lunch with her sisters, chatting with her cousins into the wee hours of the morning, watching her grandchildren’s recitals or games, at a church chalupa with her friends, or traveling with her children.

Angie you were my cousin,my friend,my anchor and I will be missing you dearly. You were there giving me advice setting me straight telling me to be strong .We had discuss my going back home next year and going for our morning walks ,going to church ⛪️ and to breakfast. I will miss you cuz because you were more like a sister than a cousin now I feel empty inside. Wish I could have gone to say goodbye but it was impossible since I had no more time available .I love you and always will. I will go see you once I am home. JUANY
