Gilbert Govea III, 18, of Brownsville, TX, devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2025, at Valley Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 14, 2007.
He is preceded in death by his Maternal and Paternal great-grandparents.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are Mother (Denise), Father (Gilberto), Sisters (Ashley, Sofia, Gillary), Brother-in-Law (Julian), grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Gilbert Govea III was the life of every room he entered-radiate warmth, humor, and a magnetic energy that people naturally gravitated toward. Whether on the football field or surrounded by family and friends, he brought a spirit that lifted others and made them feel seen and valued. His love for people was effortless and genuine. He carried his roles as a son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend with a full and generous heart. His presence lit up our lives, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled. Yet the joy, laughter, and love he shared with all of us will remain forever.

Overnight Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. the following day, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. On Monday November 24th, a Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park at 3:00 p.m.
