Rosa Zepeda

Rosa Zepeda, 88, of Brownsville, Texas, entered eternal rest on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. Born on July 25, 1936, in San Rafael Ranch, outside of Brownsville, TX, Rosa dedicated her life to her family. As a homemaker and mother, she raised five children in Los Fresnos, Texas, providing them with unwavering love and support. She later moved to Pearland, Texas, where she continued to live life with vibrancy and independence. Known to many as Rosita or ‘Chita,’ she was the embodiment of light, strength, and unconditional love for her children, family, and friends. Her faith, love of travel, music, and the precious moments spent with loved ones were hallmarks of her life.

She was preceded in death by her son Juan Luis Gonzalez, parents, Manuel Zepeda and Angelita Olivares; Olivia Zepeda, her siblings; Maria C. Sandoval, Maria Rodriguez, Manuel (Coco) Zepeda, Lupita Zepeda, and Susana Zepeda.

Rosa’s memory will be cherished by her children: Diana Salazar (Carlos), Rosario Gonzalez (Frank), Alma Gonzalez, and Hugo L.Gonzalez (Paulo Calderon); her former husband, Luis Gonzalez; and her long-time partner, Alejandro Sanchez. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Angie Gonzalez-Kurver, Adrianna Salazar-Barrera, Christina Gonzalez-Villareal, Luis C. Mascorro, Frank Gonzalez Jr., Bernice Gonzalez, Amanda Gonzalez, Omar M. Mascorro and six great-grandchildren Oscar Oviedo, Ana Alicia Barrera, Rogelio Villarreal, John Michael McCune, Isaiah Gonzalez, Joaquin Barrera. She leaves behind numerous siblings: Manuela Maya, Amelia Zepeda, Pedro Zepeda, Arturo Zepeda, Sandra Hinojosa, Valentina Zepeda, Imelda Zepeda, Lorena McCain, Marizela Zepeda, Ruben Zepeda, and Nalda Zepeda.

Pallbearers: Oscar Oviedo, Omar M. Mascorro, Frank Gonzalez Jr., Anthony Kurver, Roger Villarreal Jr. L. Charyck Mascorro, Carlos Salazar, Ron Barrera.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fox Hollow Post Acute Nursing Home for their exceptional and compassionate care.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services resume on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, TX and interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. to Los Cuates Cemetery.
