Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Eric Cespedes

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Eric Cespedes

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (SBPA) Eric Cespedes, 37, of Brownsville, Texas, a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 11, 2025, while heroically rescuing his family at South Padre Island.

Born on June 19, 1988, in Brownsville, Texas, Eric was known for his strength, kindness, and deep sense of duty. For 17 years, he proudly served with the U.S. Border Patrol, most recently as a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent at the Harlingen Duty Station. Eric was more than a law enforcement officer; he was a natural leader, a trusted mentor, and a loyal friend. His dedication to service and his commitment to his fellow agents were unwavering.

To his family and friends, he was simply “Eric”—a man of quiet courage and deep love. Off duty, he was the best father a child could ever have, the best brother, the best son, and the best husband. His presence filled every room, and his love held his family together.

His final act of bravery was a true reflection of who he was: a protector in every sense of the word. Though his time on Earth was far too short, Eric’s legacy will endure. He leaves behind a powerful example of love, sacrifice, and leadership. Our hearts will be broken for a long time, but we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the lives he touched.

Eric is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Jesus Cespedes, and his father-in-law, Andres Alegria.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sandra Cespedes Alegria; his children, Eric Damian Cespedes, Anali Montserrat Cespedes, and Adrian Gael Cespedes; his mother, Yolanda Cespedes Garcia; and his mother-in-law, Venancia Alegria.

He is also survived by his siblings: Ramiro Eulices Cespedes, Antonio Cespedes, Erika Cespedes, and Oscar Cespedes; sisters-in-law: Daisy Alegria, Jessica Alegria, Yesenia Cespedes, Yesenia Salas, and Aurora Aracely Cespedes; brothers-in-law: Eron Hernandez and Salvador Arellano; and 13 beloved nieces and nephews.
