Alex Anzaldua, 71, of Brownsville, TX, devoted brother, uncle, and friend, entered into eternal rest on July 9, 2025, at Sun Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Harlingen, TX, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville on November 19, 1953.
Alex is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Amelia Anzaldua, and siblings Jose Anzaldua III, Maria del Carmen Anzaldua Perez, and Ernesto Anzaldua.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Juanita Alatorre, Manuel Anzaldua, Romie Sosa, Amelia Snipes, Veronica Anzaldua Urbina, and Henry Anzaldua; along with many nieces and nephews, including his beloved niece Veronica Parra, with whom he shared a special bond.
He was a car salesman for over four decades, beginning his career in Brownsville before spending more than a decade in Arlington, Texas, during the 1990s. He later settled in North Carolina, where he lived for over 20 years. There, he formed a tight-knit circle of friends—Dawn, Lori, and Gladys—who remained close through the years. He actively volunteered in his community, passionately raising awareness about diabetes and other health challenges, and loved his daily Starbucks fix—a simple ritual that brought him joy.
In March 2025, he returned to the Rio Grande Valley, near his hometown of Brownsville, to be closer to family. His sister Veronica was a devoted presence during this time, offering steady care, going with him to appointments, and staying by his side every step of the way during the last four months of his life.
Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
