Elvira Arreola, age 83, of Brownsville, TX, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 23, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 28, 1942, in Coahuila, Mexico, she dedicated her life to her faith and her family. Her unwavering faith in God was a guiding light for all who knew her.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Miranda and Eduarda Vega; one brother, Jaime Miranda; and one sister, Alicia Quintanilla.
Elvira is survived by her husband Javier Arreola, four sons and one daughter, Javier Arreola Jr. (Alma), Hector M. Arreola (Lupita), Jose F. Arreola (Mona), Rosa Isela Arreola (Brian), and Carlos A. Arreola (Mae); three brothers, Luis Miranda, Miguel Miranda, Francisco Miranda; one sister, Rosa Miranda; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves her Templo El Divino Rey Congregation as well as many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was a devoted member of Templo El Divino Rey where she served as Deaconess for 30 years. She loved sewing, gardening, knitting, cooking and baking, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, the beach, but most of all, she treasured her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, finding joy in spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at Templo El Divino Rey in Olmito, Texas. Interment is to follow to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, Texas.
Elvira’s legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
