Born in Brownsville, Texas. Our dear Andrew, a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, fiancée, and friend, was a graduate of Hanna High School and U.T.R.G.V. where he obtained his Bachelor’s in Communications. Andrew was a very loving, sensitive, loud, and funny child and adult. His extroverted personality would light up a room. He loved to make others laugh. He had an intuitive understanding of other people’s feelings and felt things deeply. Andrew was an excellent athlete and loved Michigan sports teams which he ‘inherited’ from his father.
He was an avid fisherman, having spent hours with his dad on the Laguna Madre and Gulf of Mexico. He was an enthusiastic cook who loved sharing his passion for cooking with family and friends. Andrew ALSO DEARLY LOVED HIS TWO CATS, Dixie and Tiger. His passing leaves a hole as big as the Grand Canyon in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his father, Barry (Jeannie) Benton, mother, Gwen Taliancich, siblings, Andrea Vela, Javier Vela II, Amanda (Jeremy) Bales, Elizabeth (Mark) Scherler, fiancée Edith Ruiz, niece Alexandra Vela, nephew Jay Vela, great-nephew Christopher, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, cats, and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Matthew and Juanita Taliancich, Bob and Maxine Benton, Aunt Sara Benton, Uncle Jerry Taliancich, and cousins, Chase Nunez, Keith Easterly, and Troy Easterly.
In honor of Andrew, we ask you to please wear any Detroit Lions, Pistons, Tigers, Red Wings or Michigan State Spartans, attire/gear that you may have.
