Rene Ruiz

Rene Ruiz, 70, of Brownsville, Tx., devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, entered into the glory of his eternal rest on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  

He was born in Brownsville, TX, on December 11, 1953. 

Rene loved playing golf with his brothers and loved having cookouts with his family and friends. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his smile that would light up any room and his willingness to help anybody in need. He loved watching Chuck Norris in Walker Texas Ranger.  

He is preceded in death by his parents Gregorio and Amelia Ruiz, his brothers, Gregorio Jr., Guadalupe, Noe and Eliseo Ruiz. 

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Denise (Victor) Martinez; Valerie (Julio) Rangel; and Krystal Ruiz De Los Reyes; his brothers, Ismael (Mary) Ruiz, Pablo (Tina) Ruiz and Praxedis (Berta) Ruiz. 

His pride and joy were his 9 grandchildren: Brandon L. Sanchez, Viktoria (Jake) Morrow, Ashlee De Los Reyes, Xavior De Los Reyes, Vivyann Guerrero, Beyonca L. Ruiz, Maximus De Los Reyes, Vivyka Gonzalez and Leonidas L. De Los Reyes.  

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 with the recitation of The Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 and a Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment is to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

    My prayers are with my niece’s and their families and his brothers and their families my Cunado will be dearly missed but he will not be forgotten. Please keep his 3 beautiful daughter’s as he would say in your prayers to keep them strong in their our of need.

    My sincere condolences to the Ruiz family may Rene rest in peace. I have great memories of the times i had with my old camaraderie we use to go the Golden house night club in Matamoros when we were in our early 20’s. Fawn memories we will meet again Rene one day. .
