Consuelo Flores Garcia

Consuelo Flores García, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend returned home to the Lord on January 28, 2024, at the age of 97.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Clemente R. García II;  her daughters, María Guadalupe García, María Diana García, and María Esperanza Torres; her granddaughter Amanda Chavez, grandson David A. Torres, grandson-in-law Ivan M. Guzman, great-granddaughter, Hope Marie Rocha; her daughter-in-law, Angelica N. García and son-in-law, Gonzalo Perez; her parents Antonio Flores and Esperanza Rodriguez Flores; her sisters Antonia F. Leal, Evangelina F. García, Amparo F. Rocha, and Aurora F. Rojas.

Consuelo was a devout Catholic and active parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church who expressed her living faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ in her daily life. She loved sharing prayer and rosary time with her family. She instilled her love and faith in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enthusiastically volunteered at church. She helped feed the needy through the St. Vincent de Paul at her parish.  She served as a eucharistic minister not only during mass but also at the homes of homebound parishioners. Consuelo and her husband Clemente ran a booth at the annual church carnival for decades. Together they demonstrated how to share God’s love with their community, a beautiful legacy their family is determined to continue.

Consuelo filled her days with prayer, family, and gardening. Her love of her faith was evident in the way she lived her life. She attended daily mass, happily taking her grandchildren with her, sharing the importance of God with her loved ones. Consuelo filled her home with love, creating a comforting place where everyone felt loved and welcomed. She filled hearts with love and bodies with the most delicious meals including mouthwatering tamales. Her fun, competitive side came out when the family gathered to play loterìa. She had a fruitful green thumb, growing beautiful plants everyone enjoyed.

Consuelo was married to Clemente R. García II for 75 years, they shared 9 children, +María Esperanza Torres (Juventino Torres), María Angelica Pérez (+ Gonzalo), +María Guadalupe García, Clemente García III (Ana), George García Sr. (+Angelica), Hermelinda García, +María Diana García, María Consuelo Mata (Raul), María Martha Mueck (Victor). They also shared 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Together with her sister, María Guadalupe Foster (Terry), Consuelo’s family and friends will forever cherish her memory.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 1:00-8:00 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2 pm, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, TX. (956) 350-8485
