Martha Garza Rivera, 79, of Brownsville, TX passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, in Celina, TX.
She was born on August 8th, 1946, in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon to Jose Maria Garza and Genoveva Garza.
For many years, she brought care and comfort to others through her dedicated career in healthcare hospitality.
Outside of work, she was most passionate about her gardening. She spent nearly all her free time nurturing her flower garden and planting trees. When speaking of her blooming rose bushes, she would say, “A ellas les gusta que les hables y les cantes.” Meaning, they love to be spoken to and sang to.
Martha, known to many as La Martona or Martita, was a devoted mother and grandmother. She poured her heart into her family. She cared deeply for her neighbors, dear friends and family in Christ. Her faith shone through her actions, and she never hesitated to step in and help anyone in need.
She is survived by her children Alicia Solano, Roy F Rivera and Cynthia Rivera; her grandchildren Alejandro Solano, Nicole Solano, Ximena Villanueva, Ava Z Rivera, Isaac S Rivera and Ellie Faulkner. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Roberto Garza, Juan Manuel Garza and Jose Maria Garza.

Visitation will be on July 31st, 2026, from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM with a prayer service held at 6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home located at 657 Springmart Blvd, Brownsville, TX.
A Chapel Service will be held on August 1st, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Following the service, we will escort her in procession to her final resting place at 1 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park located at 5 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX.
