Akaila Santamaria

07/07/2010 – 07/20/2026

With profound love and deep sorrow, the family of Akaila Santamaria shares that she passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 16.

Born on July 7, 2010, Akaila was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and granddaughter whose presence brought light, laughter, and comfort to those around her.

Akaila will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Noe Santamaria and Jackie Santamaria, and by her treasured siblings: Petee Solitaire and his wife, Araceli, Jimmie Dorsett, Jordan Dorsett, Akilles Santamaria, and Victoria Santamaria. She also leaves behind her cherished nephews, Josiah and Ezekiel Solitaire, who will carry her memory with love.

Akaila was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Those blessed to know her will remember her kindness, intelligence, wit, and bravery.

She especially loved participating in sports. Her sports journey began as a kickball player, where she was praised for her toughness and playfulness. Becoming a start on varsity as a freshman for her high school soccer team, as well as being phenomenal in track (triple jump), she was an inspiration to all of her siblings. Additionally, she was a great student, achieving A- honor roll with her most recent report card. Her fighting spirit and strong swimming skills were unmatched. Akaila will always be remembered for coming to the rescue of her siblings, whether that be defending them from bugs or fixing their outfit; they could always count on her. With her in Heaven, she assuredly has all the snakes, spiders, butterflies, and birds she could ever want.
