Dante Mario del Bosque, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the age of 60 following cardiac arrest. He was born on April 3, 1966, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Dante graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1986 before pursuing his studies in Criminal Justice at Texas Southmost College. In 1988, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, entering active duty in San Antonio, Texas, and completing basic training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He faithfully served his country before receiving an honorable discharge from Fort Lee, Virginia, in 1989. Following his military service, Dante worked in a variety of roles throughout his career while embracing the simple joys of life. He especially enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, and sharing meals with family and friends. His dedication, sense of duty, and unwavering commitment to those around him remained defining characteristics throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dr. Mario del Bosque Cardenas and Socorro H. del Bosque; his maternal grandparents, Abelardo Hinojosa and Isabel Zamora; and his paternal grandparents, Gregorio del Bosque Herrera and Antonia Cardenas de del Bosque.
Dante’s memory will forever be cherished by his siblings, Mario (Isabel) del Bosque, Omar del Bosque, and Marilyn (Randy) Gilbert; his nieces and nephews, Isaac del Bosque, Adrian del Bosque, Lauren Gilbert, Alexandria “Lexi” Gilbert, Tiffini Gilbert, and Miranda Gilbert; and many extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his kindness and presence.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home (657 Springmart Blvd, Brownsville, Texas) from 3:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., with Military Honors to be presented at 5:00 p.m., followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:30 p.m.
A private family burial of his cremated remains will take place at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavid Boulevard, Brownsville on a later date where he will be laid to rest with his mother.
