Esther Jessie Boerner Muñoz, 95, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, October 11, 2023, Surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Otto Boerner and Erma Neidhardt Boerner in Cut Bank, Montana, on January 24, 1928.
She spent her formative years in Great Falls, Montana where she met her husband, Eliceo, and gave birth to their son. After her husband’s return from the war overseas in 1945, the family relocated to Brownsville, his hometown. In Brownsville she applied her decorating skills in several bakeries, including El Centro Grocery at Four Corners, and her financial acumen to banking and the managerial role at the Top Value Store. As a hard-working descendant of immigrant families, she dutifully served her parents, family, and church.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, Agnes, Albert, Irene, and Gerald, and her husband.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia; her son, Eliceo Muñoz III (Barbara); her grandchildren, Anna (Andrew) and Monica (Allison); and nieces Kerri and Joyce as well as other nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
