In respectful memory of Gilberto “Gilly” Antonio Perez, Jr. who entered eternal rest on October 09, 2023, at the age of sixty-seven. Gilly was surrounded by his loving family at his passing and will always be remembered as an amazing man, son, father, grandfather, brother, and a true hero. Gilly was a proud Marine, a committed law enforcement officer, and a US Border Patrol Agent and Supervisor with an unwavering dedication to duty, courage, and family. A man of principle and integrity who left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Gilly was a hometown Brownsville native who placed others before himself. He was a man of service, bravery, and sacrifice. Gilly was a caretaker, a Jarhead, a motorcycle enthusiast, an athlete, a marksman, a carpenter, an admirable man who led by example.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Carlos and Trinidad Rodriguez; his father Gilberto A. Perez Sr.; his stepfather Arnoldo Gomez; his two sisters Martha Laura Perez and Cynthia “Cindy” Perez; and one brother David “Gino” Perez.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother Ninfa R. Gomez; his son Richard A. Perez (Cynthia); his daughter Rebecca A. Sanchez (Joey); his stepdaughter Jamie L. Gonzalez; and his three siblings Alfred C. Perez (Diana), Linda P. Lutz (Bill), and Jaime A. Perez (Melanie); his four grandchildren, Isabella Perez, Jadon Perez, Mateo Sanchez, Lita Sanchez; and nine nieces and nephews, Crystal A. Perez (Will), Carlos “Charlie” Perez, Gino Perez, Robert Perez, Ricardo Uribe (Melanie), Lisa Marie Perez, Kylie Chen, Cory Chen, and Cage Chappell.

In accordance with Gilbert’s wishes, he will be cremated without a funeral ceremony. The Perez/Gomez family asks that we all remember Gilberto Antonio Perez, Jr.’s legacy of selfless service and devotion to all of those he loved by honoring him in our memory and celebrating his life.

    Met Gilbert in Brackettville, Texas around 1989 or 1990 when we were both assigned as Border Patrol Agents. Walked many trails and drove many highways with Gilbert. He was a good agent and a good guy. Que te bendiga dios y descanses en la vida eterna!
