Maria Guadalupe Martinez, 95, of Brownsville TX, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Viesca, Coahuila, Mexico on January 28, 1928.
She is preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe R. Martinez; her children Prudencia Muruaga, Eliseo Martinez, and Homero Martinez; grandchild Maricela Martinez; parents Jesus Quiroz Delgado and Maria Guadalupe Mazuca Murillo; siblings Maria de la Luz, Josefina, Jose Santos, Rito and Jesus Quiroz Mazuca.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Cesar (Tomasa) Muruaga, Juan (Hilda) Martinez, Zulema (Mike) Moncada, Blas (Mary) Martinez, Guadalupe Q. (Magda) Martinez, Venancia (†Andres) Alegria; grandchildren Velia, Elizabeth, Cesar Jr. Muruaga, Melissa, Juan Carlos, Oscar Martinez, Eliseo Martinez, Angie, Zulie, Michelle Moncada, Mary Lee, Ivet, Marysol Martinez, Daisy, Jessica, and Sandra Alegria. Also surviving 21 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2023, from 1PM-8PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
