In Loving Memory of Armando Rodriguez
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Armando “La Leona” Rodriguez, who passed away on July 11, 2026 at the age of 73.
Born on January 8, 1953 in Villa Cavazos, Brownsville Texas, Armando lived a life defined by love, strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. He touched countless lives with his generous spirit, warm smile, and willingness to help anyone in need.
He was a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his family; creating memories that will be cherished forever. He will be remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, hard work, and the unconditional love he gave to those around him.
He is survived by his children Peter Rodriguez, Beatriz Rodriguez and Maria Rodriguez. 6 grandchildren, Peter Rodriguez Jr, Juan Gonzalez Jr, Jennifer Rodriguez, Katelynn Canales, Jordan Gonzalez, and Liam Ethan Rodriguez. 2 great grandchildren Penelope and Olivia Rodriguez. 6 sisters Gloria, Oralia, Dora, Evangelina, Diana, Janie and his brother Alfredo. He was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Felipa Rodriguez and his brother Alfredo Rodriguez Jr.
Serving as Pallbearers: Jordan Gonzalez, Peter Rodriguez Jr, Robert Avalos, Ruben Avalos, Erik Longoria and Roque Leal.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing his love and legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. On Friday, July 17, 2026, the Chapel (Sunset Memorial Funeral Home) will open at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church on 24380 US- HWY 281, San Benito, Texas. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Alejandro Garza Cemetery on 10266 US- HWY 281.
