In Loving Memory of Ruben Rosas Sr.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father Ruben Rosas Sr., who passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 73 at Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 22, 1953, in Brownsville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Maria Cristina Rosas and his children Ruben Rosas Jr, Jessica M. Rosas (Alfredo), Christopher Rosas (Linda), David Rosas, Dina M. Alvarez (Daniel) as well as his grandkids, Maximus Rosas, Jose Angel Rodriguez III, David Luis Rosas Jr., Bethany Alvarez, Reymundo Rodriguez, Ruben Rosas III, Saidy Rosas, Logan Rosas, Victor D. Alvarez, and Dominic J. Rosas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luis Rosas Jr. and Cristina Rosas, as well as his two brothers Reynaldo Rosas and Guadalupe Rosas.
Ruben Rosas worked for the city of Brownsville and G.M.S for many years. He was an extraordinary bass player and a man who dedicated his life to Tejano music. He began his music career with his dad and his brothers “Los Platiados”, he also played with Latin Society Band and Raul Torres y Los Malos.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing his legacy will live on in the lives of people who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Serving as Pallbearers: Maximus Rosas, Angel Rodriguez III, David Rosas Jr., Reynaldo Rodriguez, Ruben Rosas III, Victor Alvarez, and Logan Rosas.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Chapel (Sunset Memorial Funeral Home) will open at 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park.
