Linda Dalia Garza, born on April 13, 1977, in Brownsville, Texas, to Rosalinda and Joe David Rios. She passed away on December 10, 2025, in Los Fresnos, Texas.
Linda attended Los Fresnos Elementary—back when it was the only school in town—then continued on to Los Fresnos Junior High and proudly graduated from Los Fresnos High School in 1995.
Shortly after high school, Linda met the love of her life, Luis Garza. They were married for over 25 years and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, partnership, and unwavering devotion. They were blessed with two children, Osvaldo Alonzo and Sophie Loren Garza, who became the center of Linda’s world.
Linda went on to attend the University of Texas at Brownsville, earning her degree in Education. She taught at Los Fresnos C.I.S.D for over 20 years. Teaching was more than a profession for her—it was her calling. She poured her heart into her students, sharing her kindness, patience, and joy for learning. She loved her children fiercely, adored her students, and cherished the coworkers who became lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe David Rios, and her grandparents, Jose David and Mercedes Rios, and Maria Luisa and Jesus Ramos and her cousin Christina Flores.
She is survived by her husband, Luis Garza; her children, Osvaldo Alonzo and Sophia Loren, and her beloved dog Rufus; her mother, Rosalinda R. Rios; and her sisters, Brenda (Jason), Rosanna (Luis), and Melissa (Christian). She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews—Liliana Mercedes, Juliette Nicole, Jackson David, and Bronson Lee—as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her deeply.
Linda was a devoted Catholic who loved her faith and believed deeply in the promise of the life to come.
Family was always first for her—always. She loved her family with her whole heart, fiercely and loyally. She protected, encouraged, and stood behind those she loved without hesitation. Her strength carried others through their hardest days, and her laughter brightened even the dullest moments. Three words come to mind when remembering Linda: loyal, courageousand brave.
It feels as though a piece of our foundation has been taken from us. Forty-eight years was not enough—not even close. She had so many plans, so many dreams, and so much love still to give. We were going to go to so many places, do so many things. Her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill, yet her love remains a guiding light that will stay with us forever.
Linda’s legacy is love, courage, and devotion. She will never be forgotten.
Pallbearers: Alonzo Garza, Leroy Garza, Christian Muniz, Jason Contreras, Alex Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Enrique Nunez Junior, and Eric Villa
