In Loving Memory of Bob Z. Smith
April 27, 1930 – April 16, 2025
Born in Seadrift, Texas
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:6
Bob Z. Smith, beloved servant of God, pastor, missionary, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, has gone Home to be with the Lord. From the mountaintops of Peru to the valleys of South Texas and Mexico, Bob’s life was a living testimony of the Great Commission. He spent his days joyfully proclaiming the gospel, pouring his heart into people across cultures, countries, and communities.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Bob loved the Lord Jesus deeply, and his life reflected that love in every word and deed. His favorite passage was the 23rd Psalm, and he lived every line of it—trusting his Shepherd, walking faithfully through valleys, and rejoicing in the abundance of God’s grace.
God used Bob mightily to start numerous churches—each one a lighthouse guiding the lost to Christ. He also founded a Bible institute devoted to training men to teach the truth of God’s Word, multiplying the reach of Christ’s love across generations.
He began a Scripture and gospel tract ministry that placed millions of messages of hope and salvation into hands around the world. Whether in crowded cities or quiet villages, Bob could be found sharing the good news—because he was always committed to making Christ known.
This obituary is not just a farewell—it’s an invitation. Bob would want every reader to know that Jesus died for all your sins and offers a home prepared just for you. He lived life with joy, humility, and unshakable hope—and now, he has entered his eternal reward.
Let Bob Z. Smith’s life be a beacon of light to yours. He followed the Light of the world, and his greatest desire was for you to know Him too. May your path be guided by the same Truth that led Bob Home.
