Erasmo Castro, 66, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico, on March 22, 1958.
Erasmo was a Mexican native born to Alejandro and Rosa Cantu and later adopted by Jose Maria and Raquel Castro.
Erasmo was well known in Brownsville for his carpentry work. He was a carpenter for 43 years.
In 1976 he married Thelma Martinez and went on to have 5 children.
He is preceded in death by his birth parents Alejandro and Rosa Cantu and his adoptive parents Jose Maria and Raquel Castro; and his sister Rosa Maria and his brother Jose Maria Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Thelma Martinez; his children Peggy (Juan Rodriguez), Erasmo Jr. (Dalila Castro), Ruby (Sergio Lopez), Charlene (Manuel Torres+), and George (Adela Castro); 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and his siblings Abel (Elvira), Andrea (Fredy), Horacio (Tomasa), Jose (Consuelo), Alejandro (Maria), Juan (Elena), Jaime (Nora), Susie (Vicky), Joel Castro, Yesenia (Julio) Garcia and Olivia (Gollo) Morua.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. with a chapel service at 9:00 a.m. and interment is to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
