Maria de los Angeles Guzman, 69, of Brownsville, TX, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 01, 2023, at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, on April 11, 1954.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Antonia Quezada; her aunt, Dominga Gallegos; and her uncle, Eulalio Gallegos.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carlos Arturo (Christy) Guzman, Xochitl Llamas (Eduardo “El Güero”), and Angel Gabriel (Maria Elena) Guzman; as well as seven grandchildren.
Maria de los Angles Guzman was a devout Catholic, she was an avid active member of San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church in Brownsville, TX. Maria’s passion was cooking and baking. Her daily life consisted of helping others. She was also known for her arts and crafts, as well as participating in adult day care activities. Maria was always available to make her delicious meals whenever anyone asked. She was beyond creative and talented in her own right. Maria was a mother figure to many of her children’s friends and will be deeply and greatly missed.
Visitation and public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Services will continue Monday, October 9, 2023, resuming visitation from 10:00 a.m. until departure of funeral procession at 11:30 a.m. Mass of resurrection will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
