Joel Arias

Joel Arias, 91, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted father, grandfather, brother, friend, uncle, and great-grandfather entered into eternal rest February 20, 2023 at Solara Hospital-Brownsville surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico on July 15, 1931.

He is preceded in death by his wife Eudelia Arias; daughter Guillermina Arias; son Joel Arias; great-granddaughter Aurora Garza.

Left to cherish his memory is daughters Sylvia Arias, Blanca (Mario) Rodriguez, Yolanda Arias, and Francis (Joel) Arias; siblings, Alfredo Arias, Irma Arias, Ramiro Arias, and Gloria Arias; grandchildren, Alfredo Garza, Alejandra Garza, Andres Garza, Joel Arias III, Joseph Arias, Jesse Arias, Mario Rodriguez, Carolina Rodriguez, Gabriella Rodriguez, Lorena Rodriguez, Jose Angel Rodriguez, Eduardo Arias, and Luther Ruiz. Also surviving numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Joel was always there for his family. He was a loving, caring, and generous man who was loved by all who met him. He was an avid outdoorsman, and helped everyone in need. His passion was his music and mariachi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 1PM to 8PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at 11AM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
