Silvia Irma Rodriguez, 73, of Port Isabel, Texas, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 6, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 29, 1949, in Matamoros, Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Luis Enriquez Rodriguez; parents Hipolito Ramos and Juana Saldana; son, Ricardo Rodriguez; brother Aurelio Ramos.
Left to cherish her memory is her sons Luis E. Rodriguez and Eddie (Erica) Rodriguez; grandchildren Luis Enrique Rodriguez III, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mark Anthony Rodriguez, Emerald Irma Rodriguez, Eddie Riley Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Risa Nicole Mendoza, and Ryan Garcia; great-grandchildren Sebastian, Avery, Elliot, and Marisol Rodriguez; siblings, Dora Elia Martinez, Maria Josefina Murillo, Alfredo Ernesto Ramos, and Aurelio Ramos. Also surviving numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Silvia was a loving, caring person with a smile that would brighten up a room and was always happy to give a hug or a kind word. She was also easy to talk to, a great listener, and sincerely cared about what you had to say. She was down to earth and touched the lives of many people.
Another fact is, she was a fantastic cook. Always cooking delicious meals from fried fish and shrimp to tasty carnitas for her husband, sons and later for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Part of that passion was due to her 30 years with the Port Isabel Independent School District kitchen staff and later in the restaurant industry.
Silvia Irma Rodriguez was no doubt a wonderful, caring woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 1PM to 5PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2PM and a Celebration of Life at 3PM.
