Francisca Margarita Fragoso

Francisca Margarita Fragoso went to her eternal reward on January 4, 2023, at the age of 84 years.  She lived her entire life in Brownsville, Texas, were with her 12 other siblings she shared many memories with family and friends.

She died at Sunshine Haven Hospice Home after a short, intense illness.  She was born June 4, 1938, to Cresencio Fragoso and Antonia Gonzalez.

In her youth she worked as a seamstress for McNair’s Clothing Company and throughout her life worked as an office manager, a sales lady in various retail shops and finally as a manifest agent. 

She attended Immaculate Conception School in her elementary years, Central Jr. High and Brownsville High School through 10th grade.  She went on to receive her Graduate Equivalency Degree in her later years.

Margarita was an excellent conversationalist who listened as well as contributed wit and wisdom to the conversations. The depth of her wisdom, her sense of order and her cooking specialties will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children; Irma T. Riojas (Henry), Jorge Luis Torres (Debbie Ochoa); grandchildren Rachel N. Riojas, Jorge Luis Torres Jr. (Shelby), great-grandchildren Oliver Torres and Oakley Torres; siblings Rosalie Fragoso, Julian Fragoso (Josefina), Eduardo Fragoso, Maria Dolores Hinojosa (Richard), Delfina Graciela Zavaletta, and Kenneth Charles Fragoso; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 5PM to 8PM, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. We will meet at 11AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023, for a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Pallbearers will be Kenneth Charles Fragoso, Clarence Fragoso Jr., Gus Zavaletta Jr., Jorge Luis Torres Jr., Michael Ruiz and Richard Rodriguez.  Services will conclude at the end of the funeral mass.
