It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Frances Staves announces her passing on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
At the age of seventy-eight, Mary passed away after a long illness.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her son, Carl Anthony Staves, Jr., her daughter-in-law Laura Staves, her grandchildren, Cy Blankinship, Courtney Adams and Tucker Staves and her longtime friend and business associate John Ginn, III. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Anthony Staves, her daughter, Barbara Lynn Staves and her parents Elenora (Nonie) Roegels and Cecil Frances (Tootsie) Roegels.
Mary was associated for 40 years with the Mexican tourist industry, representing Sanborn’s Insurance as one of their top agents.
Mary was known for her kind and caring nature. She co-founded The Lower Valley Humane Society and worked tirelessly to make it a huge success. Her love for animals was infinite, and she always helped any animal in need.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held June 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Advent Episcopal Church in Brownsville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary can be made to Angels Pet Rescue 1324 East San Marcelo Boulevard Brownsville, TX 78526 and Kitty Companions at 956-243-2521.
