Manuel M. Torrez Jr. of Los Fresnos, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Solara Hospital in Brownsville. He was born in Los Fresnos, TX on October 28, 1940.
He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Torrez Sr., wife, Aurora “Buddie†Cantu Torrez, and a grandson, Moises “Baby Moy†Villalpando Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Josefa “Josie†Martinez, children, Audra Marie (Moises) Villalpando, Elizabeth Ann Gonzales, Joseph Mark (Lupita) Gonzalez, siblings, Ernesto (Gloria) Torres, Rebecca (Raul) Vidal, Emma (Bill) Logerwell, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson to be born.
He was a lifelong resident of Brownsville and he proudly served in the US Marine Corp and US Army. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad/Brownsville Matamoros Bridge. He loved watching western shows, cracking jokes, going to dances, and barbecuing. Best of all he was someone you could always count on. He was loved and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 1-9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
