Dionicio “Nicho” Solis, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to heaven with our Lord on October 5, 2026. Nicho was born in Brownsville, Texas on December 5,1942. He was preceded in death by his parents: Fidencio and Maria del Refugio Solis, his brother Fidencio Solis Jr., and his beloved sister Gloria Treviño.
Nicho is survived by his wife, Rosie Roussett Solis, his two sons Richard D Solis (Dolores “Dolly” Solis) and Steven D. Solis, as well as, the apple of his eye, his grandson, Steven Daniel Solis Jr. (Mary Rose Solis).
He is also survived by his brother and sisters: Juan Jose “Johnny” Solis, Angelita Moran, Esperanza Ybarra, Faustina Gonzalez, and Susie Colunga.
Nicho was a banker for 28 years. He loved those years, the people he worked with, and the many people who he was able to help.
Nicho was also very involved with the West Brownsville Lion’s Club for over 20 years, and he always thought of his “fellow lions” and remembered them fondly. He was President of the Lion’s Club in 1976. He was involved with the Big Brother- Big Sister organization and was a member of the St. Luke’s Men’s Club for many years. Nicho loved to involve his sons in these valuable organizations, and this is where both of his sons learned the value of helping people in the community and our youth.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. and interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park.

I hold fond memories of Nicho when I worked as a runner at First National Bank. He was always friendly n helpful. Even though I was just a runner he treated me as an equal. Vaya con Dios Nicho. El cielo de color se vistio al ver q Nicho ya llego
