Yolanda H. Sanchez

March 20, 1959 – August 7, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend, Yolanda Hurtado Sanchez, lovingly known to us as Meneca.

Yolanda was a remarkable woman whose strength, fierce spirit, and unwavering love shaped the lives of everyone who knew her. She was hardworking, generous, protective, and deeply devoted to her family. She always put the people she loved first and gave everything she had to care for and provide for them.

Meneca was never one to go unnoticed. She was outspoken, strong-willed, and unapologetically herself. You could hear her voice from down the hall and feel her presence the moment she entered a room. She loved loudly, laughed deeply, and protected her family with everything she had.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents, Soledad Pinedo Hurtado and Angel Hurtado, as well as her siblings, Angel Hurtado Jr. and Martha Murillo.

Her children, Adam Salazar (Alma Salazar) and Nicole Espinoza (Genaro Espinoza), were at the center of her world. Her grandchildren, Abigail and Amaris Salazar, and Derek, Erik, and Aleena Espinoza, were truly the light of her life. She also shared a special bond with her siblings, who remained an important part of her life and family: Lupita Hurtado, Sally Truhitte (Kendall Truhitte), Irma Barcelo (Gabriel Barcelo), Raul Hurtado (Pearl), Laura Salinas (Mario Salinas), and Norma Barron (Eddie Barron). Some of her happiest moments were spent cooking, sharing meals, and creating memories with the people she loved.

Meneca leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, generosity, and, above all, love. She taught us through the way she lived, the way she cared, and the way she stood strong for her family.

Today, our hearts ache because she is gone. We will miss her voice, her laughter, her strength, her protection, and all the little things that made her uniquely Meneca. Most of all, we will miss simply knowing she was there.

She was our mother. Our grandmother. Our sister. Our Tía. Our protector. Our pillar.
Though we cannot see her or hear her voice, we will carry her love, her lessons, her laughter, and her fierce spirit with us forever.

We love you, Meneca. We will miss you more than words can ever say. You left a piece of yourself in all of us, and we will carry you in our hearts forever.
