Raul Garcia Barbosa, born July 27, 1959, passed away on March 6, 2026. A lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas, Raul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence brought love and strength to his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Barbosa, his mother, Francisca Garcia Barbosa, and his sister, Juanita Barbosa. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Martha Barbosa, who loved him so much. He was the love of her life and the best husband she could have ever asked for.

Thank you for everything you ever did for us and ours. You were the best dad God could had blessed us with. We all had our own unique relationship with you, so I guess…we were all your favorites lol. We will always miss you papi. We pray that God opened up his golden gates for you and that grandpa, grandma and Tia Juani were there waiting for you with arms wide open. I can only imagine it and it looks so beautiful just like you papi. In our hearts forever and always.”
Raul was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was not just a grandpa, but a best friend; in moments of silence he could make a whole room laugh. The best listener, hugger, and overall the best person to run to if everything felt off.
Through the lives of his great-grandchildren, his love continues to grow, ensuring that his memory and values will never fade. Raul was also a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan and a huge WWE wrestling fan. He and his grandchildren enjoyed countless memories watching wrestling matches together. His wrestling crew says, “that he will always be the Tribal Chief and that we are the ones forever.” His family was very close and united, and his passing is a huge loss to all of them. Sundays will continue being family day but without him it will never be the same.
His greatest legacy is his family, who will carry his love, strength, and values for generations to come. Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home. Visitation: Wednesday, March 11 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
