Grace S. Gibson Moses

Grace S. Gibson Moses, 76, was born in Ayrshire, Scotland to Hugh S. Gibson and Agnes Sinclair Gibson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William S. Gibson.

Grace was raised in Scotland by her mother after the passing of her father at a young age. Upon graduation, she studied to become a nurse and served at Ayrshire Hospitals as a general nurse and midwife.

At a young age, she accepted a position as a medical nurse in Saudi Arabia. While working there, she met and fell in love with an American by the name of Glen Moses. He proposed, and they were married in Scotland in 1978.

Glen brought Grace to Harlingen, Texas in 1979, where she continued her nursing career at Valley Baptist Hospital. Over the years, Grace and Glen lived and worked not only in the Rio Grande Valley, but also in California and Alaska. When Glen moved to Alaska in 1986, Grace continued her nursing career there as well.

Upon returning to the Rio Grande Valley, Grace settled in Rancho Viejo and served at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas for approximately 30 years before her retirement. She was loved and respected by many doctors and nurses who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Grace has resided in Rancho Viejo for the past 20 years and formed many lasting friendships. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.


She is survived by:

  • Elspeth Gibson (sister-in-law)
  • Tom and Mari Moses (brother and sister-in-law)
  • Rick and Andrea Moses (brother and sister-in-law)
  • Various nieces and nephews in Scotland
  • Various nieces and nephews in South Texas
  • Special friends: Abbe, Dr. Eric Valle, and David Garza
  • Special caregivers: Juani and Julie Moody

Services

Visitation is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14th, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A Nurses Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., and a Prayer Service will commence at 11 a.m. The prayer service will be conducted by Pastor Lance Hostetter of Central Christian Church of Brownsville. Services conclude at the end of the visitation.
