Mrs. Camerina “Cari” Carmona Gonzalez a long-time resident of Brownsville, Texas passed away on August 26, 2025. Mrs. Gonzalez was born in Zitacuaro, Michoacan Mexico to Facundo and Maria A. Carmona.


She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband of many years Antonio “Tony” Guzman, her two sisters: Angelina Ojeda and Lilia Carmona Anaya.


Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by her loving sons; Marco Carmona (Irma) from Brownsville, Texas and Robert Carmona (Gracie) from Houston, Texas. She is survived by many grandchildren; Luis Antonio Carmona, from Brownsville, Texas, Jessica Fuller (John) from Harlingen, Texas, Bobby Carmona, from Houston, Texas, Milo Carmona (Nhi) from Houston, Texas, two great grandchildren; Annabel Fuller from Harlingen, Texas, Brookelynn Carmona from Houston, Texas and three sisters; Josie Alfaro, Ofelia Pardo and Ines Trinidad. Mrs. Gonzalez is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Camerina Carmona Gonzalez was employed with the Pinehurst School District for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, playing Loteria, watching telenovelas, and spending time at Mi Carino Daycare with her friends. Cari was a parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church and was devout to her faith.


The family would like to thank Ms. Gonzalez’ care provider of 8 years, Mrs. Gaby Rodriguez and the medical staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center for the love and care provided.


Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, September 1st , 2025, from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Holy Rosary will commence at 6:00 p.m. The Chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2nd with a Prayer Service held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Interment Services at Buena Vista Burial Park at 11:00 a.m. The pallbearers for the service are Anthony Carmona, Bobby Carmona, Milo Carmona, Juan Rosas, Jeffrey Rosas and David Leon Jr.

    Dear Cari,
    My heart is broken and my spirit is so very sad to hear of your passing. I know that you are now with all of your loved ones in God’s Kingdom. I will forever miss your smile, kind spirit and our wonderful talks about life. I admire you in so many ways; your strong work ethic, responsible nature, honesty , integrity and I have the utmost respect for you being a woman of great Faith. You will forever be missed!
