Ursula G. de Nieto, 96, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 11, 2016 in Spanish Meadows surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Las Rusias Municipio de H. Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on October 21, 1919.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Juan Manuel Nieto, parents Jose Guerrero and Dolores de Leon, daughter; Cesarea Juarez and her grandson Lt. Kevin S. Petit.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Father Servando Nieto, Martina Munselle, Teresa (Ramon) Loera, Manuel (Hortencia G.) Nieto, Andres (Ana Maria B.) Nieto, Socorro (Frank) Valdez, Luisa (Evert) Marmaduke, Antonio (Rosalva) Nieto, siblings; Gabriel Guerrero of H. Matamoros, Tamaulipas and Guadalupe de Leon of San Carlos, Texas, 31 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Ursula Nieto “Dona Chulaâ€, affectionately known by many who knew her well had a positive and gentle spirit with a passion for life, her children and grandchildren. She loved to stay busy by sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and praying for her children and family. Only a month ago, she still attended her adult day care program where she loved her friends, administrative personnel, and would not miss playing loteria (chalupa) with them. She also loved to tell you a good joke and surprisingly would remember them well. She could recite many poems, prayers and her 31 grandchildren’s birthdates. Oh how will your good sense of humor will be missed by many that LOVED YOU!!
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 1-9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. (956) 350-8485
