In Loving Memory of Leocadio M. Gutierrez
Leocadio M. Gutierrez passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on December 9, 1937, in Cerritos S.L.P. Mexico. Later in life he became a proud Naturalized U.S. Citizen. Our father worked for many years at the Grain Elevator at the Port of Brownsville, where he also retired from. He was a loving, hardworking and very protective father and grandfather. Our beloved father had a very strong personality and was very stubborn, yet he had a very loving and caring heart. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He taught us the value and importance of having a good work ethic, to show empathy for those in need, and to always be grateful for the many blessings and love that surround us daily. After his retirement he never sat still. He always found something to fix or remodel around his house. He was extremely proud of the fact that he never paid for a handyman to fix anything. Our father was an amazingly good multi-skilled individual.
Our dad was very much loved and respected by many. He would easily make friends wherever he would go. We could go on and on and fill hundreds of pages sharing stories of what an amazing and extraordinary man our father and grandfather was. As his beloved grandchild, Adolfito told him, ¨Thank you Abuelito for building the family that we have today!”
Our father was preceded in death by his parents, Eugenio Gutierrez and Maria del Carmen Monrreal; and his loving wife, Guadalupe Gutierrez.
He is survived by his only sister, Maria Tomasa Gutierrez (+Ricardo Echavarria); his children, Flora ΅Florita” Gutierrez Ovalle (Rodolfo), Francisco Javier “Don Pancho” Gutierrez (Christina), Maria Elena “Manena” Guerrero, and Faviola “Favi” Gutierrez (Raul); his beloved grandchildren, Sara Nelly “Sarita” Hernandez Ovalle (Carlos), Vanessa Ovalle, Rodolfo “Fito” Ovalle Jr., Adolfo “Adolfito” Ovalle, Francisco Javier “Franky” Gutierrez Jr., Jose Angel “Joey” Gutierrez, Juan Antonio “Tony” Gutierrez, and his favorite nurse and partner in crime his granddaughter, Cynthia G. “Cyndi” Gutierrez; two very special great-grandchildren whom he held very close to his heart, Eric Hernandez and Natalie Hernandez.
Honored to be our father’s pallbearers will be Francisco Javier Gutierrez Sr., Raul Gutierrez, Carlos Hernandez, Francisco Javier Gutierrez Jr., Jose Angel Gutierrez, and Rodolfo Ovalle Jr.
We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to our father’s primary care provider Dr. Yanira Martinez M.D., his wonderful cardiologist Dr. Roberto B. Robles M.D. and Our Caring Hands Hospice and Palliative Care, LLC. Especially to the wonderful and caring nurses who cared for our father, Miguel, JoAnna, and Maria Isabel. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being so caring and professional with our father’s medical needs. Thank you all for taking us under your wing and teaching us how to better care for our beloved father. Also, thank you to Ms. Blanca Perez and Jaqueline from Amor Eterno Provider Services. Even though, God had other plans and we did not get a chance to use your wonderful services, we are very grateful for your guidance, love and compassion shown to us at a time that we needed it the most. We are eternally grateful for the caring professionals that you all are.
Lastly, the Gutierrez Family would like to thank Mr. Noe Ortiz from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.
