Elizabeth Padron, 60, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on October 3, 2026, at Brownsville Baptist Medical Hospital, surrounded by the love and memories of those who knew her best.
Elizabeth was born on April 25, 1966, to Jose Padron and Rebecca De Leon.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jose Padron and Rebecca De Leon, and her brother, Ricardo Padron.
She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Luis E. Cardenas; her brother, Jose Padron and his wife, Rosie; her sister-in-law, Angie Padron; her niece, Evelyn Padron; and her nephews, Bryan Padron and Ricardo Padron Jr.
Lizzy, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a warm and caring person who treasured the people in her life. She worked for many years at Oliveira Middle School, where she formed many lasting friendships and created countless cherished memories. One of the joys of her time there was seeing her nephew Ricky attend Oliveira for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.
After retiring in 2023, Lizzy often looked back fondly on the good times she shared with her friends and coworkers. She enjoyed playing loteria, laughing with friends, and simply being surrounded by the people she loved.
Her place of worship was also an important part of her life. Lizzy had many dear friends there and especially enjoyed participating in Sunday afternoon services, where she loved to visit, share her thoughts, and talk about the day’s activities
Lizzy will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of family and friends, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories, laughter, and love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9th, 2026 with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
