Ferni’s Life Story
Fernando “Ferni” Nerio Jr. was an amazing son, brother, family member, loved one, and friend to all who had the blessing of knowing him. He was born June 7th, 1997, and passed away on September 19th, 2026, at the precious age of 29. Ferni was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas and was the first-born son who united the Nerio & Ramirez family. He was a great artist who had a passion for art and poetry, and held the aspiration to one-day finish college and become a registered nurse. Like his great grandmother Carmen and his grandpa Juventino, Ferni loved to garden, and took much pride in the variety of plants he cared for outside his home. He loved God and his mother Mary, and was a devout Catholic who never lost sight of his faith, even when it became difficult. He was a bold, charismatic, and hard worker in all he set his hands to do, and never allowed anyone to walk all over him. Ferni was so often there for others when they needed a shoulder to lean on. His advice offered healing and assurance to those who needed it, and Ferni was always there to help another – even despite his own struggles. His presence never failed to light up a dull room; his smile was worth more than anything on this earth, and Ferni loved so dearly the people in his life, especially his pets. Ferni will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who loved him, and may we honor his memory by continuing to walk this journey of life with love, confidence, and creativity – just like Ferni did.

Visitation will be Friday, September 25th, 2026 from 1:00-8:00 pm with a holy rosary at 6:00 pm
at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel will open at 8:00 a.m. the following day Saturday, September 26th, 2026 which will follow a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and the interment beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Villa Nueva Cemetery.
