Gerardo Gomez, 43, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on April 13, 2026.
Born on May 9, 1982, in Brownsville, Gerardo was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. Known for his infectious sense of humor, he had a unique ability to make everyone around him laugh. His passion for collecting action figures, including his prized Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Spawns, and many others, was well-known to his friends and family. Gerardo was also an unwavering Philadelphia Eagles fan—no one could escape hearing him cheer “Fly Eagles Fly” every football season.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria del Refugio Perales de Gomez. Gerardo is survived by his father, Juan Gomez; his siblings, Karla Gomez, Andrea Gomez (Stephen Rios), and Juan Sebastian Gomez; as well as his cherished nephews, Ramon Garza Jr., Giovanni Gomez, and Ivan Garza, and his nieces, Zulieka Gomez and Zendaya Gomez.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on April 17, 2026, at Sunset Memorial, 657 Springmart Blvd, Brownsville, Texas.
Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17th, 2026, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services conclude at the end of the evening.
