Emma Benavidez

Emma Salazar Benavidez entered the gates of heaven on April 15, 2026 at the age of 69. Emma was born in Brownsville TX on Sept. 10, 1956. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo Salazar† and Maria de Lourdes C. Salazar†. She leaves behind her loving daughters; Barbara A. Benavidez and Melissa A. Alvarez, her grandchildren who were her pride and joy; Brandon L. Solis, Ricardo Tamayo Jr., Lauren A. Tamayo, Jaden L. Hernandez, and Nicholas J. Calvillo. She is survived by her two sisters; Elsa Salazar, and Maria de Lourdes Gonzalez (John), her three brothers; Pablo Salazar (Ana), Mario Salazar (Carmen), and Luis Salazar.

Emma was a shining light to all that knew her, she had a big heart and bigger personality. She was loved deeply by her friends and family. She was strong and beautiful. Though her passing leaves a tremendous void, we find comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and resting peacefully. 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19th, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with a prayer service commencing at 6:00 p.m.

On Monday April 20th, Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel will open at 10:00 a.m., Chapel service will be held at 12pm and interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park, where she will be laid to rest.

    I will miss you my long time friend. I’m going to miss you saying “what’s up” when I would call you. I’m glad we remained friends and kept in touch after we retired. Until we meet again my friend, in that beautiful forever home, where there is eternal peace and tranquility. Bye for now but not forever.

    My condolences, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful person. She was an excellent worker at Palm Grove. She was one of our Parent Trainer. My she rest in peace.
