She was born on October 19, 1936 to Rogelio Manuel Contreras and Josefa Valeia Pineda Contreras. Nellie worked for Mcnair Clothing from August 17, 1959 to December 1973. She also worked for Levis Strauss from 1973 until her retirement on November 1, 1997.
Nellie and her husband loved dancing and she loved to exercise. She was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, her husband Raul R. Brito, her brothers Rene and Domingo Contreras, her sister Florence Cadengo and her son Raul Brito Jr.
Left behind is her daughter Gloria (Richard) Garza, her grandson Raul Oscar Brito, Michael Angelo Valerio, granddaughter Michelle (Austin) Peralez, her great grandchildren Huri and Katia Valerio, and great grandchildren Autumn, Scarlett, Phoenix, Cora, and Emmitt and numerous nieces and nephews from Brownsville and Houston Texas.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 16th, 2025, from 12:00 – 8:00 PM with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM. On Friday, October 17th, the chapel opens at 10:00 a.m. A chapel service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow to Buena Vista Burial Park at 1:00 p.m.
