Oralia Z. Ramirez, 81, entered into eternal rest with our Lord on September 14, 2025. She was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was well known for baking cookies and fruitcakes and giving them to family and friends. This was her way of showing her love for them. She was an avid volunteer. When her sons were in elementary school, she was the PTA (parent-teacher association) president and then became a district 10 PTA President. She was also a Den mother for the Cub Scouts and became the president of the band boosters at Porter High School. She volunteered as a minister at Christ the King Church and assisted with voter registration.
Oralia is preceded in death by her husband, Juan M. Ramirez, her parents, Francisco and Eva Zamora, her sister Alicia Z. Cantu, and her brothers, Alberto, Alfredo, Enrique, Ruben, Ernesto, and Arturo Zamora. Oralia is survived by her sons, David (Mayra) and Rene (Melissa), five grandchildren: Seth (Joann), Eran, Bianey, Janelle, and Esteban, and one great-granddaughter, Georgie Lolly, and two sisters, Connie Zamora and Lupe (Charles) Ramirez.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home with a rosary service at 6 p.m. The chapel opens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 18th, 2025Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Garden. Her pallbearers will be David Ramirez, Rene Ramirez, Seth Ramirez, Eran Ramirez, Esteban Ramirez, and Alberto Zamora.
