Harvey Daniel Harrington, II
September 26, 1941 – August 11, 2025
Harvey Daniel Harrington, II, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on August
11, 2025.
Harv was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and attended St. Luke’s Elementary, Central High School, and Alexander Ramsey High School. He became a registered architect in Minnesota, Colorado, and California, enjoying a career that spanned more than 60 years. His work took him across the globe — from Minnesota and California to Iraq, Qatar, Morocco, and Abu Dhabi. Along the way he worked for companies including Farmer’s Union Central Exchange, URS, University of California Davis, Banner Health Systems, and many more. He also managed his own firm, H2CM, until retiring in 2015. Harv often joked that he got his start much earlier, working “child labor and indentured servitude” for his father’s company, Harrington & Sons Heating and Air Conditioning.
Harv proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967.
He was a man of many passions. A proud Irishman, he loved his Guinness, had a great laugh, and told unforgettable stories. He built and remodeled every home he lived in, coached a women’s softball team to state championships, and once belonged to the St. Paul Clown Club, visiting children at the hospital. He worked the New York Times Sunday crossword in ink, built countless jigsaw puzzles, and collected over 2,300 movies.
Travel was a joy throughout his life — from every U.S. state except Maine, to Mexico, and extensively through Europe. Ireland always held a special place in his heart.
He was born and raised Catholic but grew disillusioned in the late ’60s during what he and Kathy fondly called their “hippie years.” A member of Mensa International, he was a profound thinker whose humor always danced around the edges of conversation.
Harv is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen McIalwain Harrington; his nephew, Steven Harrington; and many cousins near and far.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 14, 2025, at River Bend, 36 Yukon River Drive, Brownsville, TX.
