Rogelio Chavez, 70, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Saturday June 21, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Brownsville, TX, Rogelio was the dedicated husband of Alicia and loving father to Lorraine, Rogelio Jr., Fabian, and Andres.
He was known for his sense of humor, kindness, and contagious smile.
Rogelio was a Longshoreman at The Port of Brownsville for 25 years before his retirement. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cowboys, spending time at the beach and making his irresistible smoked brisket.
He is survived by his wife Alicia Chavez, daughter Lorraine Garza (Nicolas), sons Rogelio Chavez Jr. (Kathleen), Fabian Chavez (Vida), Andres Chavez (Brenda), grandchildren Nicole Garza, Lauren Garza, Diego Garza, Ashlyn Chavez, Alyson Chavez, Arielle Chavez, Brandy Chavez, Achilles Varela, Lexander Varela, sisters Josie Chavez, Margie Martinez, sisters and brothers-in- laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Blas and Paula Chavez, brothers Blas Chavez Jr. and Juan P. Chavez, daughter – in – law Amanda Chavez, as well as maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday June 25, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services conclude at the end of the evening.
