Escolastica Collazo

Escolastica Collazo, 93, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted, sister, and friend entered eternal rest to be home with her lord and Savior on Saturday, March 08, 2025, in Brownsville, TX, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Marcos, TX, on February 10, 1932.

Escolastica was a devoted follower of Jesus, a loving sister, a faithful friend, and even though she didn’t have biological children- she was a granny by love. Her life was a testament to her faith, love, and kindness. A faithful servant of God, Escolastica was a mighty prayer warrior who was constantly sought out by friends and family to keep them in prayer. Through mission work, she carried not just aid, but love—leaving footprints of compassion and hearts forever changed in every place she served. She found joy in serving others, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and a warm smile to those in need.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elias and Raquel Collazo; her siblings, Manuel, Jesus, and Elias Collazo, Paula Hernandez, Cesaria Alaniz, Maria Vega, and Catalina Garcia.

She is survived by her sister Candelaria Rivera; a beloved niece who she saw as a daughter, Mary Moreno (Frank Moreno); her grandniece who she loved like a granddaughter Brittney Moreno; and Michael Parras who she loved as a grandson, who will forever cherish her memory and the legacy of faith she instilled in them.

With heartfelt appreciation, we recognize those who will carry Escolastica to her final resting place, honoring her life and legacy. Pallbearers will include Michael Parras as lead pallbearer, Andrew Vidal, Milton Ayala, Joshua Cruz, Jacob Cruz, Matthew Cruz, and Esteban Fernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Moreno and Peter Vidal.
