Jose Juan Granado Jr., 79, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Valley Regional Medical Center. In, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 06, 1945.

He is preceded in death by his parents Juan Granado and Librada Rodriguez Granado; sibilings Maria Cortinas, Jesus Granado, Ernesto Granado, Manuela Delgado, Guadalupe Granado, Jose Granado, Juanita Gonzalez and, Natividad Granado.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Esmeralda E. Granado; his children, Juanita Granado Villarreal (Miguel), Jose Juan Granado III (Elvira), James Granado (Jessica), Jessica Granado Reyna (Eduardo III); and his grandchildren, Juan Humberto Granado, Vivian Granado, Jazlynn Granado, Jianna Granado, James Granado Jr, Eduardo Reyna IV, and Eden Justin Reyna; and his great-great grandchildren, Aritzel Nicole Granado, and Arianelly Maria Torres; his siblings Frances Larson, and Ramona Rosenbaum.

Jose Juan Granado Jr. served as a devoted church usher at his beloved mission, San Juan Diego de Guadalupe. He cherished the time spent with his family and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. A man of many passions, he enjoyed listening to the music of Los Tigres del Norte, Gilberto Perez, Ruben Vela, and Tony De La Rosa, often finding joy and solace in their melodies. Jose Juan embraced his western roots with pride, dressing in classic western attire, and spending time horseback riding, cattle ranching, and farming. His adventurous spirit led him to enjoy gambling, dancing, and pursuing careers as a truck driver and welder. Jose Juan’s life was one of hard work, love, and a deep connection to his heritage, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories for those who knew him.

Serving as pallbearers for Jose Juan Granado Jr., are Eduardo Reyna IV, Eduardo Reyna III, Eden Justin Reyna, Miguel Villarreal, James Granado Jr., James Granado, Juan Humberto Granado, and Jose Juan Granado III. Honoring pallbearers are Vivian Nicole Granado, Jazlynn Granado, and Jianna Granado.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 07, 2025, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The chapel opens at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8th 2025, with a Mass of Resurrection celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Misión de San Juan Diego de Guadalupe. Interment is to follow at 12:00 p.m. to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
