Guadalupe García Palacios (June 1943 to February 2025)
Guadalupe Garcia Palacios, 81 of Brownsville, Texas, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Mesa Hills Post Acute surrounded by her loving family.
Guadalupe was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1943 to Lorenzo Garcia and Senobia Prado, she was the eldest of four children born to Lorenzo and Senobia. Guadalupe completed her General Education Diploma and attended classes at Texas Southmost College. She attended college, worked as a farm worker, raised a family of 15 children and supported and fought for migrant worker rights as a member of La Raza Unida Political Party and Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC), as well as volunteering her time to political campaigns in Brownsville and Cameron County throughout her lifetime. “Lupita,” as so many lovingly called her, will be remembered for her love of Christ, a devout Catholic and her love for her family, friends, cooking and her service to the community.
Guadalupe Garcia was preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo Garcia and Senobia Prado, siblings Antonia Carr, Celestino Garcia, Janie Almazan, and Ignacio Garza, daughter Gloria H. Vaughn and her son Juan Antonio Hernandez and is survived by her children Casimiro Hernandez, Maria D. Martinez, Alberto Hernandez Jr., Guadalupe Hernandez, Florencia Hernandez, Isabel H. Galaviz, Marisela Hernandez, Rosario Hernandez, Jose Luis Hernandez, Noemi Annaliese Hernandez, Lorenzo Hernandez, Pedro Hernandez, and Juan Antonio Palacios as well as over 160 strong family legacy with many extended family members.
